Almighty and most merciful God,
On this glad Easter morning, we confess that though Christ is risen, we have often lived as though the tomb were still sealed. You made us for your glory, yet we have sought our own. You call us to love you and our neighbor, yet we have loved our comfort and desires more than your will and others’ good.

You have raised Christ and given us the hope of resurrection, yet we have doubted your power and clung to fear, bitterness, and unbelief. You call us to newness of life, yet we return to old sins, selfish words, anxious hearts, and deeds that deny the gospel we profess.

For Jesus’ sake, forgive us, O Lord. Have mercy on us according to your steadfast love and blot out our transgressions through the blood of the Lamb who was slain and now lives. By your Holy Spirit, grant us true repentance, turn our hearts from sin, renew our minds by your Word, and conform us to the likeness of your risen Son.

On this day of resurrection, lift our eyes to Christ, the author and finisher of our faith. Strengthen us to live as Easter people—dead to sin and alive to you—that in all things we may glorify your holy Name.

Through Jesus Christ, our risen Lord and only Mediator. Amen.
